5 Things to See in Prague

January 22, 2023 · In: Walking Tour

Prague is a stunning city with amazing architecture. It’s also rich in history and culture, making it a great place to visit. If you’re planning a trip, be sure to check out these five things to do in Prague.

Charles Bridge

The Charles Bridge is one of the most romantic experiences in Prague. It was built in 1357, and it was the only way to cross the river until 1841. A lot of people who walk across the bridge now are visitors who want to enjoy the atmosphere. The bridge is very popular, so you may need to try going late at night or early in the morning if you want a romantic experience without a lot of other people around. Walking across the bridge will take you from Old Town to Prague Castle and give you a chance to see some impressive views.

Prague Castle

Before you go to the castle, be prepared to walk a lot. Prague Castle is a very popular tourist attraction and it is known as the largest castle in the world. There is some controversy surrounding this claim because Prague Castle is actually an assortment of buildings, all protected by one wall. One thing that no one can dispute is the sheer beauty and architectural variety of these buildings. It’s not necessary to look inside every building because the exteriors are also impressive. You can purchase different ticket types that will allow you to see different parts of the castle.

Jewish Quarter

The history of the Jewish Quarter in Prague is a shocking reminder of the prejudice suffered by Jewish communities. During the 13th century, Jews living in Prague were ordered to move from their homes across the city and settle in one area. The Jewish Quarter is a humbling and educational experience for all involved. We recommend purchasing a walking tour as there is so much to see.

Astronomical Clock

The astronomical clock in Prague is one of the third oldest of its kind. You will probably notice it as you explore Prague’s Old Town since it is located there. If you have the chance, you should stop and watch the hourly show on the clock face involving Jesus Christ and the Twelve Apostles.

Christmas Markets

The Christmas markets in Prague are some of the best in Europe. They run from December 1st to January 6th, and they’re definitely worth a visit. You’ll feel like you’re walking in a fairytale, with all the wooden huts selling traditional Czech gifts, food, and mulled wine. There are many other beautiful sights to see in Prague, but if you only have time for five, make sure these are on your list.

A visit to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a must. It’s an orphan elephant rescue organization in Nairobi. They do good work. They only allow so many visitors each day. Once the elephants are older, they release them back into the wild.
